Chiropractic is a health care approach that focuses on the relationship between the body's structure, mainly the spine, and its functioning. Spinal manipulation is the primary form of treatment used by chiropractors. Chiropractic is a drugless, non-invasive, and a complementary form of healthcare using a holistic approach to evaluate pain syndromes. Treatment plans address activities of daily living, nutritional guidance, exercise instruction and overall well-being.
Dr. Jeff understands that the body has a powerful self-healing ability. The body's structure and its function are closely related, and this relationship affects health. Treatment provided by Dr. Jeff aim to normalize this relationship between structure and function, and therefore assist the body as it heals.
Chiropractic: What To Expect On
Your Initial Visit
The initial exam requires a medical
history and a physical exam. During the medical history, Dr. Jeff will
ask questions about the nature of your pain and about any health problems you
and close family members have or have had. During the physical exam, the
doctor may watch you stand and walk, check your reflexes to look for slowed or
heightened reflexes, check for tender points (which are points on the body that
are painful when pressure is applied to them), check for muscle strength and
sensation, and check for signs of nerve root irritation.
Often the chiropractic doctor can find the cause of your
pain with a physical and medical history alone. However, depending on what the
history and exam show, your doctor may order medical tests to help find the
cause. The tests may include X-rays, MRI, CT, and/or blood tests.
With the information gathered during the history, physical exam and medical
tests (if warranted), Dr. Jeff will diagnose your condition and propose a
treatment plan (if appropriate). If your condition cannot be managed
through chiropractic treatments, Dr. Jeff will refer you to the appropriate
healthcare professional.
What To Expect on Your Follow Up Visit
Follow up visits require less time than
the initial consult. The doctor will implement the treatment plan
after assessing your progress. A re-evaluation of your condition will be
done periodically to assess your progress and evaluate whether changes in the
treatment plan are neccessary.
